MR. GENE THORNSBERRY

Byron Gene Thornsberry, age 91, of Kimberling City, formerly of Crocker, was born on February 13, 1935, in Pulaski County, a son of Opal Alfred and Crochia Mae (Smith) Thornsberry and passed from this life on Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026 at his residence.

Gene was united in marriage on December 17, 1957, at Swedeborg, to Marilyn Sue Crews and to this union, one son was born. He was preceded in death by his father on May 6, 1956; his mother on November 11, 1977; two brothers, Larry Thornsberry in 1997 and John L. Thornsberry in 2005 and an infant sister, Jo Lea Thornsberry at age 10 months.

Gene had been employed by Shade Tree Service Company for over 42 years, retiring in 1997. He cleared right of ways for numerous electric companies in the St. Louis area as well as out of state. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and traveling with his wife.

Those left to cherish the memory of Gene include: his devoted wife of nearly 69 years, Marilyn Thornsberry; his son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Beverly Thornsberry; his granddaughter, Jeanie Avery and her husband, Brian; his great-grandson, Colin Avery as well as many other relatives and friends.

A private burial will be held in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Swedeborg under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
