MR. GEORGE McMURTREY

George Everett McMurtrey, of Crocker, was born on September 24, 1945, at Waynesville, a son of Clyde Everett and Bernice Grace (Strain) McMurtrey, and departed this life at 1:27 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2012, in the Mercy Hospital, Springfield. Mr. McMurtrey had attained the age of 67 years, 2 months, and 22 days.

Mr. McMurtrey was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jim McMurtrey, John Paul McMurtrey and Dale McMurtrey and one sister, Louise Routh.

Mr. McMurtrey had worked as a claims manager for Middlewest Freightways and most recently for the Bank of Crocker. He enjoyed four-wheeling, photography and fishing.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. McMurtrey include: one son and daughter-in-law, Shannon Dale and Gina McMurtrey, Willard; one daughter and son-in-law, Julia Grace and Greg Austin, Willard; one brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Barbara McMurtrey, Crocker; one sister and brother-in-law; Norma and Gary Marso, Crocker; two step-brothers, Lance Jensen, St. Louis and Philip Jensen, Crocker; sisters-in-law, Judy McMurtrey and Vickie McMurtrey; four grandchildren, Caleb and Cameron McMurtrey and Grace and Elijah Austin; his best friend, Kathy "Kat" Rossing; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation was held for Mr. McMurtrey on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker.
