Gerald Alvin Veasman, of Dixon, was born on April 4, 1935, in Denison, Iowa. He was the son of Hugh and Gertrude Leona (Bremer) Veasman. He departed this life at 4:58 a.m., Monday morning, November 30, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Veasman had attained the age of 85 years, 7 months and 26 days.
Mr. Veasman was united in marriage on May 16, 1957 in Lebanon Missouri to Miss Ella Mae Rollins and to this union, eight children were born. He was preceded in death by his father in 1993; his mother in 2013; a brother, Hughie Veasman in 1936 and a sister, Marcella Bure in 2019.
Mr. Veasman was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon. He had attended elementary school in Brinktown, graduating from the eighth grade as Valedictorian of his class and then attended and graduated from Dixon High School. Early in life, Mr. Veasman worked for the Dixon Ice Company, Brown Shoe Company, Grounds Keeper on Ft. Leonard Wood, as well as being a lifetime farmer in Maries County. He enjoyed working on his farm and tending to his animals. Mr. Veasman was a jack of all trades. He did most any type of carpentry, electrical and mechanical work. Most of all, he loved being with his family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Veasman include: his wife, Ella Mae Veasman; his children, Henry "Elvis" Veasman, Rick Veasman, John (Patti) Veasman, Jim (Marsha) Veasman, Daniel (Dixie) Veasman, Bradley Veasman, Patricia Fellers and Sandra (Gerry) Lewis; his siblings, Omer Veasman, Kenny (Linda) Veasman and Donna (Don) Knapp, twenty grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren with one expected in the near future and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated for Mr. Veasman at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday morning, December 2, 2020 in the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon with the Rev. Joseph Hoi celebrating.
A Private burial will be held at a later date in the Guardian Angels Catholic Cemetery, Brinktown Missouri. Honorary pallbearers for Mr. Veasman are Nathan Veasman, John Veasman, Jr., Anthony Veasman, Elijah Sprurgeon, Uriah Veasman, Aaron Spurgeon, Shadd Veasman and Jason Lacomfora.
Memorials are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon, Missouri.
Mask and social distancing are encouraged for all of those in attendance.
