Gloria Elizabeth Schinn (née Turner), age 90, of Lutsen, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in Dixon, Missouri, with family by her side on July 5, 2026.

     Gloria was born on April 18, 1936, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to Eldon Turner and Geneva (Peart) Turner.

     At the age of 15, Gloria met the love of her life, Duane Schinn, on a blind date. Her mother famously said it would never last because he was a sailor. At the age of 18, they married and had five beautiful children together, celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on December 2, 2024.

     Gloria was a strong, hardworking woman with a sharp mind, quick wit, and a wonderful sense of humor. After making Lutsen her home in 1974, she found great joy in the beauty of Lake Superior’s North Shore. She especially enjoyed watching westerns, with Gunsmoke always remaining her favorite. She loved puzzles and word games of all kinds.

     Gloria was a woman of many talents and hobbies, including sewing, cooking, reading, and spending quality time with her family playing board games. She found great joy in watching hummingbirds and could spend hours enjoying their visits to her feeders.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Duane Schinn; her daughter, Karen (Schinn) Kadoun; her son, Joseph Schinn; her twin sister, Nan Turner; and her brother, Eldon “Sonny” Turner.

     She is survived by her children, Douglas (Lynn) Schinn, Robin (Keith) Knight, and Dr. Sandra (Joel) Schinn-Payment; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.

     A private graveside service and interment will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Lutsen Cemetery in Lutsen, Minnesota.
