Obituary

Harry Davis Martin, of Dixon, was born on January 6, 1949 at Cairo, Illinois a son of Davis and Jane (Moore) Martin and departed this life at 10:36 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his residence. Harry had attained the age of 70 years, 3 months and 8 days.

Harry was united in marriage on April 19, 1991 at St. Robert to Linda Hardwick and to this union, one son, Todd was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Mason Morse; his step-mother, Sarah Martin; two step-sons, David Warner and Cody Warner and one step-daughter, Dalena Warner.

Harry was an accomplished musician, singer, entertainer, comedian, a one man band and an author, having written a book. He played the guitar, keyboard, trumpet and drums. Harry done two years touring overseas with the USO, done show bands at Branson and several years with Lee Mace at the Ozark Opry. In later years he entertained for nursing homes with his stuffed tiger "Simba." He had a bachelor's degree in education and music.

Those left to mourn the passing of Harry include: his wife, Linda Martin, Dixon; three sons, Kevin Martin and Jason Martin both of St. Louis and Todd Martin, Waynesville; one daughter, Jennifer Martin, St. Louis; step-sons, Ken Warner and wife, Kristal and Josh Warner; three sisters, Cheri and her husband, Craig LaBarbera, Africa; Joy Evans, state of Pennsylvania and Laura and Jeff Brown, state of Illinois; one step-brother, Arnold Morse and his wife, Brenda; one grandson, Caleb Diderickson; three step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Lonnie Hardwick and Henry Hardwick and his wife, Karen; and many other relatives and friends.

Following the wishes of Harry, the family elected cremation under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.

One of Harry's favorites: "I see trees of green, red roses too. They seem to bloom for me and you – and I say to myself, What a Wonderful World"
