Helen Barbara Alexander, of Dixon, was born on December 4, 1926, at Novi-Sad, Yugoslavia, a daughter of Oscar and Franciska Hirsch, and departed this life at 7:02 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, in Teague, Texas. Mrs. Alexander had attained the age of 86 years and 17 days.
Mrs. Alexander moved to Germany at the age of 14 years. She married Jimmy Muriel Alexander of Zavalla, Texas and shortly after having their first child, came to the United States. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 24, 1987; one daughter, Lillian Faith Jones on December 20, 2009; her parents; one brother, John Hirsch; one sister, Hannah McCoy and one son-in-law, Doug Clary.
Before her marriage, Helen was an interpreter in Germany and spoke five languages. After starting her family, she was a homemaker and the devoted mother of nine children. Mrs. Alexander loved her children and was proud of them and their accomplishments.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Alexander include: six sons and four daughters-in-law, Jim "Pubi" Alexander, Dixon; Billy Alexander, Dayton, Texas; Danny and Jinnie Alexander, Waynesville; Steve and Joyce Alexander, Lohman; Mike and Tracy Alexander, Hardy, Arkansas and Oscar and Misty Alexander, Dixon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Earnest Smith, Teague, Texas and Barbara and Scott Evans, Dixon; one son-in-law, Mike Jones, Dixon; one brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Judy Hirsch, Nixa; one brother-in-law, Paul McCoy, Sr., Dixon and sister-in-law, Wanda Hirsch, Nixa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Alexander at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Billy Harris officiating. The eulogy was done by her son, Jim Alexander.
Interment was in the Waynesville Cemetery, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Alexander were her grandsons, Allen Bullock, Jason Alexander, Nathan Alexander, Jeremiah Alexander, Justin Alexander and Brett Alexander. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, Roby Alexander and Chase Hutchings and great-grandsons, Chanse Bullock and Chase Walker.
