Herta Kiger, age 88, of Dixon, was born on August 15, 1936, at Frankfurt, Germany, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Jost and passed from this life on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at her residence.
Mrs. Kiger was united in marriage on July 26, 1961, at Frankfurt, Germany to Mr. Thomas Farrow Kiger and to this union, three children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 16, 2006; her son, Robert Michael "Bob" Kiger on April 28, 2012; her parents; an infant grandson, Brandon Inman on August 4, 1984; two sons-in-law, Bobby Dake on June 3, 1980 and Chesley Crum on February 7, 2001; as well as her brothers and sisters.
Herta was owner and operator of "Herta's Dis and Dat" thrift shop as well as being a volunteer at the Thrift Shop at Fort Leonard Wood for over 30 years. She enjoyed going to auctions and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Herta was a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker.
Herta is survived by her daughters, Peggy Kiger and Brinda Crum, both of Dixon; her four grandchildren, Sera Maldonado and husband, David; Angie Morgan and Daniel Broadhurst; Britney Inman and Eli Crum and wife, Kelly; her twelve grandchildren, Tyler, Alyssa, Alaina, Eva, Joaquin, Landon, Dillon, Leland, Bentley, Nathan, Reagan and Sawyer; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held for Herta from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, September 28, 2024 in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor Shannon Perry, Santee Community Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family in memory of Mrs. Herta Kiger, to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 4238, Dixon with envelopes available at the funeral home the day of her service or in care of Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, P.O. Box GG, Dixon, MO 65459.
