Hildegard Gisela Ghumm, of Springfield, formerly of Crocker, was born on June 6, 1930, at Maersburg, Germany, the only child of Fritz and Berta (Cornardi) Huchel, and departed this life at 8:38 a.m., Tuesday morning, February 28, 2017, at her residence near Springfield. Mrs. Ghumm had attained the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 22 days.
Mrs. Ghumm was united in marriage on April 15, 1955, in Germany to Leroy Ghumm. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 5, 2012; one son, Harold Ghumm; one grandson, Jediah Ghumm; and her parents.
Mrs. Ghumm was a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker, always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. She loved hummingbirds and collecting them, chocolate, shopping, her house plants, but above all cherished her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Ghumm include: her sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse and Linda Ghumm, state of Indiana and Bill and Carrie Ghumm, state of Tennessee; her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Jerry Bowler, Springfield; three grandchildren, Bill, Jr., Chandler and Kenneth; one great-grandson, Billy, III and many other relatives and friends.
A private graveside service was held for Mrs. Ghumm at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017, in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
