Hope Mitchell, of Dixon, was born on April 9, 1931, at Newburg, a daughter of Perry and Amanda (Hamilton-Cook) Blue, and departed this life at 11:22 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at the The Arbors of Victorian Place of Cuba. Hope had attained the age of 86 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Hope was united in marriage on November 2, 1952 to John William (Bill) Mitchell and to this union, three sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 20, 2002; infant son, Curtis Dale Mitchell on May, 12, 1955; Aaron William Mitchell on May 25, 1978 and Robin Lynn Mitchell on September 20, 2013; nine siblings, infant Peggy Lou, Doretha, Joe, Gene, Bettie Ann, Katie, Leona, Roberta and Lorene.
Hope accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior and followed him in baptism. She and her husband, John Bill, were faithful members of the Living Word Worship Center and served on the board of directors.
In addition to being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Hope enjoyed many creative activities including quilting, sewing, making jelly, baking, drawing, photography, and decorating. She loved animals, travel, being outdoors, especially exploring creek and river banks. She liked going to flea markets, collecting antiques, paintings, and rocks. She also assisted with details of their family business, R & J Construction, until John's retirement.
Those left to cherish the memories of Hope include: her granddaughters and their husbands, Mirinda and Shaun Decker and Elisha and David Roy McMillian; ten great-grandchildren, Josh Decker and his wife, Kelsey, Jaden McMillian, Nova Decker, Regan McMillian, Abrianna Decker, Camron McMillian, Justus Decker, Owen Decker, Kalyn McMillian and Hudson McMillian; also one great-great-granddaughter, Olivia Decker; all of Dixon, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held for Hope at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2017, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor Tom Cromwell, Living Word Worship Center, Dixon, officiating.
Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery in the Mitchell Family Plot, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers were Shaun Decker, David Roy McMillian, Josh Decker, Cameron Bryant, Ryan Hogshooter, and Donald Gann.
