Howard Lee Goodman, Jr., age 82 of Dixon, was born on July 15, 1943, at Hancock, a son of Howard Lee, Sr. and Blanche Evelyn (Newkirk) Goodman and passed from this life on Thursday morning, March 26, 2026, at his residence.
Howard Lee was united in marriage on May 17, 1963 at Dixon, to Ms. Catherine Elizabeth McCarty, she preceded her husband in death on March 6, 2013. In addition to his wife, Howard Lee was preceded in death by his father, Howard, Sr. on February 24, 1996; his mother, Blanche on October 15, 2005; two brothers, Ival Dean Goodman on July 5, 2004 and Gary Wayne Goodman on May 4, 2011 and two sisters, Sharon Ann Heighton on May 29, 1982 and Linda Ruth Campbell on April 15, 2011.
Howard Lee was a United States Army veteran. He honorably served his country from December 1966 until December 1968 attaining the rank of SP4.
Howard Lee had worked for Magnum Concrete Saws and Blades making industrial saw blades, until his retirement and moving back to Dixon. He was a member of the Dixon Saddle Club and Rodeo Association and had served on the board for the Seaton Cemetery for some time. Howard Lee enjoyed gardening, raising some of the very best tomatoes but most of all he enjoyed his mule team and wagon. He was a good neighbor and friend to all.
Those left to mourn the passing of Howard Lee include: his three brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Alma Goodman, Dixon; Jerry and Jackie Goodman, Maries County and Danny and Deb Goodman, Jefferson City; numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held for Howard Lee from 10 a.m. until the time of his service at 11 a.m., on Friday, April 10, 2026, all in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, 205 W. Third Street, Dixon. Military honors will follow the memorial service at the funeral home.
A private family burial will be in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
