Obituary

Jack Edward Maxey, 83, of Crocker, was born on February 26, 1938, at Hanna, Missouri, a son of Mont Cristo and Mary Catherine (McClary) Maxey, and departed this life at 9:10 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2021 in the Mercy Hospital, Springfield.

Mr. Maxey was united in marriage on March 7, 1964, at Richland to Ms. Ruth Ann Atherton and to this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mont and Mary and his siblings, Monte, Frenchie, Genevieve, Christine and Gus.

CW04 Maxey entered into the United States Navy at Waynesville on April 1, 1957 and served his country faithfully until February 29, 1988 when he was honorably discharged at Norfolk, Virginia. A man of excellent character his "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial to his faithful service to his country.

Mr. Maxey was a member of the Crocker Christian Church where he had served as an elder. Following his military career, he had worked as an engineer for the Newport News Shipbuilding for 15 years and later sold real estate for 7 years.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Maxey include: his wife, Ruth Ann Maxey, Crocker; his children and their spouses,  Jacquelyn Elaine and Vic Cernetich, O'Fallon; John and Ashley Maxey, Okmulgee, Oklahoma;  and Donald and Denise Maxey, Greenville, North Carolina; three sisters, Wanda Jean Thornsberry, Swedeborg; Ruby (Darrell) Melton, Springfield and Mary Lee Cox, Marianna, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Amanda, Carrie, Jack, Taylor, Tori, Olivia, Eric, Eli, Theo and Arley; ten great-grandchildren, Kendall, Kayden, Jackson, Reed, Gavin, Payton, Parker, Maverick, Emmy Kate and Jase and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation from 10 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 11, 2021 in the Crocker Christian Church with Donald J. Maxey and John E. Maxey officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 12, 2021, in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Crocker Christian Church with envelopes available at the church or the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
