James Allen Carson (Jim) was born on March 31, 1946 in Denver Colorado, to Abner Jessup (Lester) Carson and Edna Lee Schubert Carson. As a young child, his family moved to the Schubert Farm, in Pulaski County, Missouri. Jim graduated from Dixon School System in 1964. Where he was all too excited to tell anyone who would listen, "I graduated in the TOP 10 of my class. However, there were only 18 of us."
As a young man, Jim, worked for Ford Motor Company in St. Louis Missouri, as a lineman in the paint department, and later was drafted into the United States Army. He served three years. He also embarked on one tour in South Korea during the Cold War Era. Jim decided to return to his familiar roots and become a cattle and pig farmer.
In 1974, Jim relocated to his forever home Anniston, Alabama. That same year, he started his first business venture, The Spur Gas Station (later named Spur Deli). While operating the station, Jim met and married, the love of his life Millicent Miller; and to the union they raised their two children, Darenda and Allan. Jim retired from the oil and gas business in 1995. Following retirement he became employed at the Anniston Army Depot, where he retired. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and golfer. Jim was a member of the semi-pro golf team at the Anniston County Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Allan and his nephews. Jim was also very active in his church. He was a Deacon at Mars Hill Missionary Baptist in Anniston, Alabama. He spent his retirement years raising and supporting the educational endeavors of his daughter and son. He enjoyed traveling to support his son in football. The joy of his life was his two grandchildren, Shef Shef and Rori Gold.
On the morning of Thursday, September 27, 2018, Jim answered His Master' s Call.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Edna Carson, 3 brothers, Robert L. Carson, Paul R. Carson, Kenneth N. Carson, and In-laws, Sam and Margaret(Satcher) Miller.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Millicent Miller Carson; children, Allan J. Carson and Darenda Miller Goodson (Sheffton, Sr.), grandchildren, Sheffton M Goodson, II, Rori Gold Goodson, all of Anniston; Brothers, William A. Carson of Waynesville, MO and Ronald D. Carson of Union, MO, BrothersIn-Law, Delamus Satcher(Shirley) of Gainesville, FL, Sam Miller, III (Lisa), George Conley, both of Anniston; Sisters-In-Law, Jacqueline Taylor, Delilah Miller, Robin Miller, Sandra Miller, Sonya Butler (William), all of Anniston, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
