James Thomas Smith, of Crocker, was born on January 27, 1940, at Crocker, a son of William Thomas and Jessie Maxine (Manes) Smith and departed this life at 6:40 a.m., Sunday morning, December 2, 2018 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville. Mr. Smith had attained the age of 78 years, 10 months and 5 days.

Mr. Smith was united in marriage on May 27, 1979 at Richland to Patricia Ann Moss. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 20, 2017; his parents, William and Jessie Smith; and two brothers, David Eugene Smith and Stanley Edward Smith.

Mr. Smith was a United States Navy veteran. He had worked as a carpenter and then for the Missouri Department of Corrections in Jefferson City as a Correctional Officer.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Smith include: his brother, Paul Smith, Crocker; two sisters, Fyrn Peterson, Des Moines, Iowa and Ann Holmes, Summerfield, Florida and many other relatives and friends.
