James Glenn Turner, of Dixon, was born on June 6, 1934, at Grange, Arkansas, a son of Olas and Annie Mae (Lackey) Turner, and departed this life at 5:15 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2014, at his residence in Dixon. Mr. Turner had attained the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 21 days.
Mr. Turner was united in marriage on May 4, 1957, at Kansas City, Kansas, to the former Miss Willa Dean Roudebush, and to this union, four children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on November 26, 2011; his father in 1978; his mother in 1981; and two brothers, Paul Turner and Wayne Turner.
Mr. Turner was a golf enthusiast and Bluegrass musician. He enjoyed growing tomatoes and looked forward to his yearly summer trip to Cave City, Arkansas to get a load of watermelons. Mr. Turner had worked as a mechanic for General Motors and was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, Lodge No. 00777.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Turner include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Cindy Turner, Dixon and Jeffrey and Lawree Turner, Waycross, Georgia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and Ray Prewett and Glenda and Bill Vanderfeltz, all of Jefferson City; two sisters, Helen Gay, Jonesboro, Arkansas and Janie Jarret, Batesville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Rachel, Jeri Kay, Lawren, Cole, Halle and Zachary; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Alanna; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Turner at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home, Dixon, with Pastor Helen Winters, Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, Dixon, officiating.
Interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Turner were Ray Prewett, Bill Vanderfeltz, Cole Vanderfeltz, Zachary Vanderfeltz, Scott McCray and Dwight Terry.
