Obituary

     Janet Elaine McGowan, age 67, of Crocker, was born on November 11, 1958, in Miller County, a daughter of Claudy Rufus and Rosemary (Luttrell) Cottrell and passed from this life on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Phelps Health, Rolla.

     Janet was united in marriage on May 15, 1976, at Hilltop Church, Crocker to Terry Lynn McGowan, and to this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Steve Cottrell; maternal grandparents, Milton and Opal Luttrell; and her paternal grandparents.

     She attended the Hilltop Church, Crocker, and had worked as a waitress and at Damsel Dry Cleaners, Osage Beach. Janet enjoyed crafts of all kinds , floral designing, fishing, dancing, music, going to Branson, and being with her family.

     Those left to cherish the memory of Janet include: her husband of 50 years, Terry of the home in Crocker; two sons, Jamie McGowan and wife, Kacey, Christopher McGowan and wife, Rachel; one daughter, Misty Kirby and husband, Anthony, all of Crocker; six grandchildren, Autumn, Clayton, Trevor, Adi, Sophia, and Zoey; one brother, Kevin Douglas and wife, Susan, Barnett; three sisters, Marilyn Conway, Shelia and George Dennis, and twin sister, Jeannie Carroll, all of Kansas City; and other relatives and friends.

     Following Janet’s wishes, the family has elected cremation under the direction of Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.

     A memorial service will be held at a later time and will be announced by the funeral home.
