Janet Sue Ray, of Dixon, was born on February 28, 1948, at Sonoma, California, a daughter of Willard Dennis and Virginia Louise (Rowe) Baker, and departed this life at 8:17 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013, in the Mercy Hospital, Springfield. Janet had attained the age of 65 years, 6 months and 1 day.
Janet was united in marriage on December 13, 1963, at Tuscumbia, to Arthur Wayne Ray and to this union, three daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her father on August 19, 1991 and one granddaughter, Brenna Russell on April 13, 1997.
Janet was baptized on April 29, 2001. She enjoyed reading, working in her yard, and gardening, but above all she especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Janet was a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Janet include: her husband, Wayne Ray, Dixon; her mother, Virginia Baker, Iberia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Tony Martin, Iberia; Diane and Shane Eagle and Lisa and JJ Russell, all of Dixon; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Jerry Baker, Dixon; Dean and Nancy Baker, Ronnie and Lori Baker, Doug and Linda Baker and Keith and Lisa Baker, all of Iberia; two sisters, Joyce Akery, Dixon and Debbie Barnett, Iberia; two grandsons, Dustin Martin and Samantha; Ryne and Ariella Martin; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Brian Castro and Sierra Eagle; two great-grandsons, Haiden and Liam Martin; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Janet at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2013, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Bro. Justin Skiles, Jefferson City, officiating.
Interment was in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Janet were Dustin Martin, Ryne Martin, Brian Castro, Clint Hodges, Dale Hoffmann and Justin Baker. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Martin, JJ Russell and Shane Eagle.
