Jason Paul "Jake" Burgess, age 42, of Dixon, was born on April 19, 1981, a son of Robert Gene and Brenda Kay (Malone) Burgess and departed this life at 6:47 a.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in the Mercy Hospital, Springfield.

Jason was a graduate of Dixon High School and had been a member of the Sheppard Baptist Church. He was baptized early in life and later re-dedicated his life to his Lord and Savior. Jason had worked as a bank manager for a short time, but for most of his working life he had worked as a waiter in Rolla, St. Robert and the Kansas City area. When he was not working, he enjoyed traveling especially to New Orleans, Louisiana and Mexico.

Those left to mourn the passing of Jason include: his father, Bob Burgess, Dixon; his siblings, Shawn (Shannon) Burgess Matherly, Lebanon and Mindy (Kevin) Meeker, Fair Grove; uncles; aunts, nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda on December 12, 2020; his maternal grandparents, Shirley and Blondie Kizer and Pat Malone and his paternal grandmother, Patsy Fenton.

Visitation will be held for Jason from 11 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 12 noon, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 with Pastor Danny Bassett, Burnett Church officiating.

A private burial will be in the Sheppard Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
