Jerry Don Nelson, of Dixon, was born on September 2, 1941, in Camden County, a son of Joe Raymond and R. Delphia (Oliver) Nelson and departed this life at 10:02 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2017 in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon. Jerry had attained the age of 76 years and 1 month.

Jerry was united in marriage on January 8, 1982, at Vienna to Edda Louise Fritchey. He was preceded in death by his wife on January 19, 2004; his father on December 30, 1955; his mother on January 4, 2000; one son, Gerald Jones and two sisters, Shirley Klein and Kathryn Nelson.

Jerry was a United States Army veteran and attended the Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, Dixon. He retired as maintenance supervisor from the Missouri Department of Corrections, Jefferson City. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Those left to mourn the passing of Jerry include: one son, Christopher Hudgens, of Hawaii; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Patrick Coddington, state of Texas; one brother, Mike Nelson, Richland; two sisters, Norma West, Sleeper and Pauline McDaniel, state of Georgia; three grandchildren, Ryan Jones, Kye Jones and Paige Arriaga; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m with the funeral service 11 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor Helen Winters, Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, Dixon officiating.

Interment will be in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
