Jim "Henry
King" Strain
Sep 24, 1944 — Oct 5, 2024
Jim Strain, age 80, of Dixon, was born on September 24, 1944, at Rolla, a son of Francis and Geneva (Yates-Strain) King and was raised by Charles King (whom he considered his father) and passed from this life on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at his home.
Jim married the love of his life, Jean Newkirk, on November 22, 1967, and to this union, four children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Geneva and his step-father, Charles King.
Jim accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1972 and was called to preach in 1974. He preached at multiple churches over the years, but he would always say that he never felt more at home at a church than the years he spent at Sugar Tree Grove in Bunker, Missouri.
He had worked at Brown Shoe factory, farming, and various other jobs until he enlisted in the United States Army and served a tour in Vietnam from 1968 until 1969. Jim had several interests over the years. He was a car enthusiast, enjoyed going to Pow Wow's and was extremely proud of his Indian heritage in which he was known as "Two Hawks". He loved spending time outdoors with his family and his beloved dogs. Above all he loved Jesus and sharing his faith with people. He never met a stranger and if he could say one more thing he would share the plan of salvation with you, Romans 10:9-13 and to "Be bold in your faith." I'm sure he would say that at this moment, do not cry for him because he is "finer than a frog hair split four ways and then some" running the streets of gold with his beloved dog zipper.
Those left to mourn the passing of Jim include: his wife of 57 years, Jean Strain; his children, Rick Strain, Sheriee (Strain) Mallory and husband, Jeff, Todd Strain and Chad Strain and wife, Honeylee; 10 grandchildren, Kisha Strain, Tyler Strain, Megan Strain, Justin Malone, Tanner Malone, Mylee Wilt, Lane Mallory, Presley Strain, Seth Mallory and Isaac Parker; 13 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held for Jim from 11 a.m. until the time of his service at 12 noon, all on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, 205 West Third Street, Dixon, MO 65459, with Pastor Danny Bassett officiating.
Interment with military honors will be in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
