James Robert "Jimmy" Schaffner, of Dixon, was born on October 27, 1951, at Dixon, a son of John C. and Lydia V. (Wade) Schaffner and departed this life at 10:33 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020 at his residence near Dixon. Jim had attained the age of 68 years, 4 months and 23 days.

Jimmy was united in marriage on June 10, 1983, near Dixon, to Myra Kay Simpson. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lydia; a brother, Johnny Schaffner and four sisters, Marie "Tootie" Henning, Helen Allen, Sharon Kay Schaffner and Dorothy Crews.

Jimmy had worked for Brown Shoe Company, Dixon for 25 years and then he worked for ABB, Jefferson City retiring after 20 years. He enjoyed tinkering with old cars, horses, hunting and fishing.

Those left to mourn the passing of Jimmy include: his wife, Myra Schaffner of the home near Dixon; one son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Sue Ann Schaffner, Dixon; one daughter, Melinda Kay O'Neal, Dixon; three grandchildren, Jerica Keeth and her husband, Austin; John Robert Schaffner and Shaddix Wyman; one great-grandchild, Kenneth Keeth; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence "Sonny" and Glenda Schaffner, O'Fallon; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Sue and Stanley Holterman, Westphalia ; Mary McNally, Cuba and Georgenna Alexander, St. Louis; several nephews and nieces; great-nephews and great-nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Private services were held for Jim and honoring his wishes, cremation was elected under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.

Interment will be held at a later date in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon. Honorary pallbearers for Jimmy were Chuckie McNally, Kenny Keeth, Austin Keeth, Joey Miller, Shaddix Wyman and John Schaffner.
