1SG (Ret) JOE PLEVIN

Joe Plevin, age 86 years, of Crocker, Missouri, was born on May 10, 1937, at Kinde, Michigan, a son of Frank and Mary (Warchock) Plewinski and departed this life on Thursday, February 1, 2024 in the Mercy South Hospital, St. Louis.

On June 1, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Plevin entered into active federal service in the Air Force. He later entered into the United States Marine Corp and served until September 30, 1977 when he was honorably discharged at Kansas City, Missouri having attained the rank of 1SG. During his military career he was awarded and entitled to wear the U.S. Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4); Pistol Expert Badge, Rifle Expert Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Vietnam Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/palm, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious, Unit Citation w/palm Combat Action Ribbon and the Purple Heart. A man of excellent character, his Honorable Discharge is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.

Mr. Plevin was a member of the Catholic Faith. Following his career in the military he had worked as a nursing home administrator and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled Veterans as well as being an avid bird watcher and enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles and gardening.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Plevin include: his daughters, Lavon Plevin and her husband,  Michael Picard, Crocker; Donna Russo and Cindy Lagasse, both of the state of Michigan; his grandchildren, Alexis, Desire, Jordan, John, Joey, Joshua, Nick and John ; great-grandchildren, Khloe, Theo, Dakota, Crystal and Dakota; numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edward Plewinski, Wally and Frank Plevin and sisters, Regina Majeski, Helen Nesbit, Stella Karn and Charlotte Wiederhold.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of his  Mass at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 17, 2024  all in the St. Marys Catholic Church, Kinde, Michigan.

Interment with full military honors will be in the St. Marys Cemetery, Kinde, Michigan.

Local arrangements were under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker, Missouri.
