John Eric Maxey, age 59, of Crocker, was born on November 20, 1965, in Great Lakes, Illinois, a son of Jack Edward and Ruth Ann (Atherton) Maxey and passed from this life on Monday, July 7, 2025, at his home.
John's education included William & Mary (MBA), 1997; Christopher Newport University (Business), 1992; The Apprentice School (Sheet Metal), 1991; Bethel High School, 1983. He was an avid golfer – competing as a member of the Apprentice School's golf team, where he later went on to become the head coach. His professional career included time at Newport News Shipbuilding, Colonna's Shipyard, Edward Jones and Walmart. John loved to tell stories, and his best were always told while sitting around a campfire. He enjoyed coaching youth sports, running, hiking, and fishing. He was a great cook and would never be caught dining in a chain restaurant. His latest hobbies included cruising in his Jeep and collecting knick-knacks; especially cast iron.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Edward Maxey.
Those left to mourn the passing of John include: his mother, Ruth Maxey; his children, Amanda Maxey, Carrie Maxey, Jack Maxey II (Karissa), Eric Maxey, Theo Maxey, Arley Maxey; one brother, Donald James "DJ" Maxey (Denise), one sister, Jacquelyn Cernetich (Vic); nine grandchildren, Kendall, Gavin, Kayden, Jackson, Payton, Parker, Reed, Maverick, and Jameson along with many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held for Mr. John Eric Maxey at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 in the Fairview Cemetery, Laquey, MO followed by a luncheon at the Crocker Christian Church, 16200 MO Highway 17, Crocker, MO 65452.
