Obituary

Joyce Jean Smith, of St. Robert, formerly of Dixon, was born on February 26, 1939, in Phelps County, daughter of Quiller and Nancy Ellen (Corwin) Jones and departed this life at 2:05 a.m., Sunday morning, December 10, 2017, in the Sunset Village of the Ozarks, St. Robert. Mrs. Smith had attained the age of 78 years, 9 months and 14 days.

Mrs. Smith was united in marriage at Fort Leonard Wood in 1960, to Robert Garland Smith and to this union, one son was born. She was preceded in death by her parent, Quiller and Nancy Jones; three brothers, her twin, Jewell Dean Jones; Albert Jones and Charles Jones and four sisters, Mary Alice Slawson, Maxine Bradshaw, Betty Treece and Louise Marie Button.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Baptist Faith, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Disabled Veterans. She had worked for the Gray Hound Bus Lines and later was a waitress for the Houston House in Newburg as well as being a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt. Mrs. Smith enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crafts of all types, especially making dolls.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Smith include: her husband, Robert G. Smith, Wellsville; one son, Robert E. "Bobby" Smith, St. Robert; nephews; nieces; great-nephews and great-nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. with the funeral services at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor Steve Wood, Higher Calling Worship Center, Newburg.

Interment will be in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
