June Hancock, of Crocker, was born on June 3, 1929, at Laquey, a daughter of Clyde and Ava (Barnes) Quesenberry, and departed this life at 11:17 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Mrs. Hancock had attained the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 25 days.
June was united in marriage on December 26, 1949, at Richland, to Francis S. Hancock, and to this union, four children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Emery and Lyle Quesenberry; and four sisters, infant Joyce Quesenberry, Alene Aubuchon, Althia Winford, and Jewel Becker.
June made a profession of faith in a fall revival in 1941, held at the Fairview Baptist Church by Rev. Frank Manes and was baptized in the Roubidoux Creek near Cookeville. She was a Sunday School teacher most of her Christian life, went on two mission trips and enjoyed travel immensely.
June graduated from Richland High School at the age of 14 and enrolled at Southwest Baptist College at the age of 16. She would attend college during the Spring-Summer sessions and teach elementary school in the Fall and Winter, doing this for four years. After working in the medical field for several years, she went to the Chrysler Corporation in Fenton in September 1968 and retired from there on October 31, 1989. June played on a softball team until moving to Crocker and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. She loved the outdoors, walking and looking at nature, but the mountains and oceans were her favorites.
Those left to mourn the passing of June include: her husband, Francis Hancock, Crocker; three sons, Stan Hancock and Steve Hancock, both of St. Louis and Jeff Hancock, Eureka; one daughter, Mary Jo Hancock, state of New Jersey; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for June at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, with Bro. Lee A. Todd, Concord Christian Church, officiating. Barbara Helms provided musical selections
Interment was in the Mitchell-Chapel Cemetery near Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for June were Shane Aumiller, Barry Aumiller, Keith Hancock, Jared Hancock, Jeremy Hancock and Jeffrey Hancock. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Bane, Walt Pollard, Chase Hancock, Rick Wright and Don Burd.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
