Katie Elizabeth Howser, of Dixon, was born on March 18, 1920, at Dixon a daughter of Marion Willard and Mary Ona (McKnolly) Dake and departed this life at 7:25 a.m., Monday morning, January 21, 2019 in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon. Mrs. Howser had attained the age of 98 years, 10 months and 3 days.

Mrs. Howser was united in marriage on October 22, 1942, at St. Louis to Virgil C. Howser and to this union, one son was born. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 26, 2017; her father on January 17, 1968; her mother on July 25, 1982; four brothers, James Dake on July 26, 1989; Leslie Dake on September 22, 1991; Willie Dake on June 17, 1996 and Wayne Dake on July 29, 1999 and one sister, Addie Dake on June 20, 2003.

Mrs. Howser was baptized early in life and a lifelong member of the Burnett Christian Church, Dixon. In her early years she had worked for a doctor in Belle and later she worked in the garment factory in Iberia as well as being a loving and devoted homemaker and housewife. Mrs. Howser enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and tending to her African violets.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Howser include: her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Doris Howser, Dixon; one granddaughter, Whitney Nolan and her husband, Michael, St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Katelyn Nolan and one expected in the near future; two sisters, Charlcie Howser and Helen Rosene Nichols, both of Dixon; one sister-in-law, Ethel Dake, Dixon; many nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.
