Kenneth "Kenny" Earl Baker, of Crocker, formerly of Dixon, was born on October 19, 1927, at Dixon, a son of Earl Guy and Violet Mary (Kelley) Baker, and departed this life at 10:45 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015, at his residence in Crocker. Mr. Baker had attained the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 20 days.
Mr. Baker was united in marriage in 1951, at Dixon, to Barbara Lois Means and to this union, three children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on September 18, 2005; one son, Terry Baker; his father, Earl Guy; his mother, Violet; two brothers, Ray Donal Baker and Jerry Baker; and one sister, Virginia Jones.
Mr. Baker was baptized at the age of 12 years in the gasconade River in Jerome and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon. Following graduation, Mr. Baker went to St. Louis to work for Sherman Construction. He returned to Dixon and was owner and operator of Delano Gas Station, Dixon. In 1968, he sold the Delano Station and bought the Texaco Station in Dixon. In 1972, Mr. Baker went to work at Fort Leonard Wood, retiring in 1988 and then worked for Wal-Mart for some time.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Baker include: one son, Danny Baker, Dixon; one daughter, Karen Nave, Wellsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Wanda Baker, Dixon; his devoted companion, Betty Kelley, Crocker; nine grandchildren, Shelie, Teresa, J.R., Kristi, Lori, Guy, David, Kimmie and Kenny; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Interment was in the Stokes Cemetery, Meta under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Baker were Guy Baker, David Baker, Kenny Baker, J.R. Scott, Jason Baker and Danny Milligan.
Memorials are suggested by the family to the Stokes Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or the First Baptist Church, Dixon with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon.
