Obituary

Larry R. Kelley, of Hancock, was born on November 20, 1947, at Hancock, a son of John Jasper, Sr. and Eva Irene (Davis) Kelley and departed this life at 2:58 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2020 in the Cox Hospital South, Springfield. Larry had attained the age of 72 years, 7 months and 26 days.

Larry was united in marriage on February 28, 1983, at Waynesville to Teresa Louise Gillmore. He was preceded in death by his father, John on March 7, 1998; his mother, Eva on April 15, 1995; three brothers, infant Herbert Dwight Kelley in 1936; Fred Kelley on September 1, 1998 and Terry Kelley on May 22, 2003; two sisters, Mary Lee Alexander on June 10, 1995 and Lula Mae Kelley on October 23, 2000 and two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Kelley and June Kelley.

Larry was baptized by Jim Dobyns while attending the Hancock Christian Church. He was a member of the Heavy Equipment Local 513 and was owner and operator of Kelley Excavating and was one of the first to work on putting in Highway 63. He later owned and operated Kelley Sand and Gravel in Waynesville and Kelley Quarries in Hancock as well as running the high lift and baling hay.  Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, running his coyote dogs, team roping and most recently he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and John and Traci playing ball.

Those left to mourn the passing of Larry include: his wife, Terry Lou Kelley, Hancock; his children and their spouses, Laura Kelley, Richland; Barbie (Jay) Cassady, Jefferson City; Peggy (Brian) Ramsey, Iberia; Kris (Daniel) Hinkle, Hancock and Neil Creamer, Hancock; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tom and Barb Kelley and Jay Kelley, all of Dixon; one sister and brother-in-law, Verla and Kenny Patterson, Washington; eleven grandchildren, Wesley, Justin, Kayla, Ashley, Karli, Kendra, Clayton, Willett, DJ, John and Traci; eleven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 20, 2020 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor Jerry Dooley, Word of Life Fellowship officiating.

Interment will be in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Larry will be Justin Ramsey, Neil Creamer, Daniel Hinkle, George Yoakum, Brad Kelley and Wesley Kelley. Honorary pallbearers are Willett Clark, Brian Ramsey, Clayton Clark and Jay Cassady.

Memorials may be made in memory of Larry Kelley with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Dixon.
