Lila May Howe, of Dixon, was born on May 4, 1937, at Bloodland, a daughter of Louis Earl and Dortha Fern (Summers) Atterberry, and departed this life at 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016, in the Mercy Hospital Jefferson, Festus, Missouri. Mrs. Howe had attained the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 9 days.
Mrs. Howe was united in marriage on December 8, 1955, at Fort Leonard Wood to Darrell Richard Howe, Sr. and to this union, six children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 21, 2001; her father Louis on July 17, 1976; her mother Dortha on May 7, 2011; and three brothers, Chester, Vernon, and Daniel Atterberry.
Mrs. Howe was a member of the Wheeler Church of Christ near Dixon and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dixon. She had worked as a licensed Dietician at the Fort Leonard Wood Hospital. Mrs. Howe enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, painting, cooking, camping and being with her family.
Those left to cherish the memory of Mrs. Howe include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Rhonda Howe, Alachua, Florida and Darrell, Jr. and Tina Howe, Bloomsdale; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Phyllis and Tony Roberts, Dixon; Susan and Terry Kennedy, Fulton, Illinois; Sandra Howe, Stoutland and Cheryl and Jeff Hamm, Wendell, North Carolina; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Fred and Diane Atterberry, state of Michigan and Harold Atterberry, St. Robert; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Hester Raein, state of Michigan; Mary and Earl Bays and Fern McKinnon, all of Dixon and Wanda and Doug Jackson, state of Ohio; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
