MRS. LILLIAN ERNESTINE WALTERS

Mrs. Lillian Ernestine Walters was born on May 11, 1922, at Yellville, Arkansas, a daughter of Richmond Thurman Patterson and Zella (Matlock) Patterson Davis and departed this life at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at her residence in Dixon. Mrs. Walters had attained the age of 90 years and 18 days.

Mrs. Walters was united in marriage on April 2, 1942, at Leavenworth, Kansas to James E. Walters and to this union, six children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, CW04 James E. Walters; her parents; one son, James A. Walters and three brothers, Ray, Chet and Vernon Patterson.

Mrs. Walters was baptized as a young girl and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon. She spent her life as a loving and devoted military wife and mother. She loved spending time with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her many hobbies include quilting, cooking, many crafts, and she loved to travel the world, she had visited all 50 states throughout her life with family and friends.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Walters include: five daughters, Joyce E. and John Carlson, Hudson, Florida; Sharon and Gorton Thomas, Lecanto, Florida; Nancy E. and Bill Doolin, Dixon; Margaret B. Pierce, Pittsburg, Kansas; Shirley Ann South, Everton, Mo., two brothers, Jim and Patricia Patterson, Rogers, Arkansas; Ed and Connie Patterson, Yellville, Arkansas; one sister, Shirley Faye Batton, Granby; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; cousins and relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Walters at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor David Vanzant, Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon officiating. "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden" were played for the service.

Private Interment for the family was held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, June 4, 2012 in the Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield.

Memorials are suggested to the Phelps County Regional Hospice with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon.
