Lois Jean "Jeani" Cantrell, age 73 of Crocker, was born on September 19, 1949, at Ft. Riley, Kansas a daughter of Noel Loyd and Cleta Fern (Hitchens) Roberts and departed this life at 7:02 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Jeani was united in marriage on January 22, 2010 at Las Vegas, Nevada to Mr. Carl Stephen Cantrell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tammy Holyfield; one brother, Bill Roberts and one sister, Sandy Smith.

Jeani was baptized early in life and was a member of the Concord Christian Church near Crocker. She was a life-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Crocker Memorial VFW Post 4956.

In the early ninety's, Jeani was owner and operator of Jeani's Corner Café in Crocker for ten years. She called this her labor of love. Her motto was printed on her menus "Sit Long, Eat Plenty".  Food service was her life-long passion displayed at the many restaurants around the country from Lake of the Ozarks to Phoenix to the Henderson/Las Vegas area to Dodge City, Kansas.

Not only was cooking her love, but crocheting was also a gift that touched the lives of many people, from afghans for the park rangers, to hats at the commissary, and for the premies at the hospital.

Jeani had lived in Germany and France as a young girl. She loved to travel and with her husband, had seen 48 states. Shiloh National Park was their favorite destination year after year.

Those left to mourn but cherish the memories of Jeani include: her husband, Steve Cantrell, Crocker; their children, Robert Singleton, Crocker; Maria Parker (Darnell), Jackie Kerns (Dan) and Maria Nmir, all of the state of Virginia; her mother-in-law, Joy Cantrell, Crocker; her brother, Tom Roberts, Crocker; her sister, Debbie Spencer, Jefferson City; sixteen grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial service will be held for Jeani at 12 noon, on Saturday, July 22, 2023 in the Concord Christian Church at 12255 Highway KK, Crocker, Missouri.

Burial will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2023 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville.
