Lois Evelyn McDowell, age 94, of Granite City, Illinois, was born on May 24, 1931, in rural Dixon, Missouri a daughter of Dolph and Thelma Iona (Newkirk) Williams and passed from this life on Sunday, May 3, 2026 in Granite City, Illinois.

Mrs. McDowell was united in marriage to Glen Karl McDowell and to this union, one son was born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen on December 25, 1979; her son, Carl on February 26, 2026; her father, Dolph on January 14, 1990; her mother, Thelma on   September 25, 2005 and two brothers, James Williams on October 21, 2013 and Russell Williams on November 2, 2015.

Mrs. McDowell graduated from Dixon High School at the age of 17 in 1948. She was baptized early in life and was a member of the Suburban Baptist Church in Granite City, IL where she was also a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. McDowell had worked as a receptionist in a pediatric clinic in Granite City, retiring in 2010, she found satisfaction watching the generations of children in the practice growing up and bringing their children to the clinic. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, doing ceramics, sewing, going to the movies and her little Yorkie dog.

Those left to cherish the memory of Mrs. McDowell include her nephews, Jeff and Lane; her nieces, Carol, Connie, Bridgette and Crystal; numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held for Mrs. McDowell at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
