Obituary

Lora Ellen Boatman, of Dixon, was born on December 3, 1929, at St. Louis, the only child of Willis and Blanche (West) Boatman and departed this life at 5:40 a.m., Friday morning, March 10, 2017, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Ms. Boatman had attained the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 7 days.


Ms. Boatman accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and followed her Lord in baptism early in life. She was a faithful member of the Sheppard Baptist Church near Dixon. She enjoyed embroidering, doing word search books and puzzles, riding on the Oats Bus and cooking. She loved children and for many years was a babysitter as well as a homemaker.

Those left to mourn the passing of Ms. Boatman include: many dear cousins and friends.

Ms. Boatman was preceded in death by her father, Willis Boatman on March 14, 1937; her mother, Blanche Boatman Scott on March 11, 1997 and her step-father, Clinton Scott on January 13, 1967.

Funeral services were held for Ms. Boatman at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in the Sheppard Baptist Church at 14281 Cardinal Road, Dixon with Pastor Tom Maples, Springfield and Pastor Jim Burton, Sheppard Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Ms. Boatman were Dale Vineyard, Toby Parker, Ralph Martin, Elmer Bassett, Richard St. Cyr and Randy Robertson. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Smith and Nathan Davolt.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon with envelopes available at the Church or the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
