Maletta Georgette Sears, age 93, of Dixon, was born on January 7, 1932, in Harvey, Illinois, a daughter of Henry George and Frances Christine (Zander) Sommer and passed from this life on Thursday evening, August 21, 2025, in the Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab, Lebanon.
Maletta was united in marriage on June 12, 1953, at Courtland, Illinois to Charles Arthur Sears and to this union, seven children were born. She was preceded in death by her former husband on January 19, 2017; her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Sears on March 24, 2021; her father, Henry on February 2, 1979; her mother, Frances on June 30, 1968; two brothers, Lionel Sommer and George "Bud" Sommer and one sister, Laura Ford.
Maletta was baptized while attending the Lighthouse Worship Center near Dixon, where she had been a faithful member and attended until her health no longer permitted. She had worked for Brown Shoe Company, Dixon for 20 plus years. She enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts, working puzzle books, playing cards, but most of all she loved her animals. Maletta made the best German potato salad ever!
Those left to mourn the passing of Maletta include: her children, Charles "Chuck" Sears and his wife, Sherry, Mexico, Missouri; Karl Sears and his wife, Linda; Andrew "Andy" Sears; Dale Sears; Shelley Moore and Gail Sears, all of Dixon; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held for Maletta from 5 – 7-p.m., Monday, August 25, 2025 and from 10 – 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2025 with her funeral service following at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home, 205 W. Third Street, Dixon, with Pastor Lloyd Mattocks officiating.
Interment will be in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family in Memory of Mrs. Maletta G. Sears with envelopes available at the funeral home or c/o Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home, P.O. Box GG, Dixon, MO 65459.
