Margaret Mary Faherty, of Jefferson City, formerly of Dixon, was born on April 12, 1921, at Tipton, a daughter of John W. and Mary Margaret (Schmidt) Bull, and departed this life at 2:52 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2014, in the Jefferson City Manor, Jefferson City. Mrs. Faherty had attained the age of 93 years, 5 months, and 7 days.
Mrs. Faherty was united in marriage on October 24, 1939, at Tipton to Vincent William Faherty and to this union five sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 13, 1986; her father on May 12, 1969; her mother on December 31, 1984; three sons, Ronald J. Faherty, Robert D. Faherty and William G. "Bill" Faherty; one grandson, Jeffrey J. Faherty; one brother, John W. Bull and one sister, Betty Jean Madole.
Mrs. Faherty was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon. She was a Librarian for the Dixon Elementary School and later a cook at the Dixon Middle School, retiring after 37 years as well as being a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker. She loved quilting, baking and going to yard sales.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Faherty include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, George and Phyllis Faherty, Jefferson City and Jim Faherty, Warner Robins, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Betty Godfrey, Frank Faherty, John Faherty, Julie Shoudel, Derek Faherty, Laura Faherty, Charles Faherty, Jennifer Faherty and Andrew Faherty; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Faherty at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon with Rev. Henry Ussher officiating.
Interment was in the Egan (St. Theresa) Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Faherty were Charles Faherty, Frank Faherty, Julie Shoudel, Kaleb Godfrey, Derek Faherty and Laura Faherty.
Masses or memorials are preferred by the family to the Egan (St. Theresa) Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
