Obituary

Margaret O. "Marge" French, of Dixon, was born on September 14, 1932 at Huntsville, Alabama, a daughter of Oscar and Flossie Mae (Mitchell) Vann and departed this life at 11:22 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2015, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Marge had attained the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 27 days.

Marge was united in marriage on April 3, 1971, at St. Louis to James V. French who preceded her in death on November 26, 1991. In addition to her husband, Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Flossie Vann; three sons, Sherman Kitchen, Larry Kitchen and Richard Lee French; one grandchild, Stephanie Fields; one brother, Thomas Vann and six sisters, Bea, Ruth, Mildred, Wynona, Dean and Lorrine.

Marge was a loving and devoted house wife and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and being with her grandchildren.

Those left to mourn the passing of Marge include: one son and daughter-in-law, Harold James and Faith Fields, House Springs; three daughters, Ritha Fields, Lynchburg, Patricia Murphy, Dayton, Ohio and Pamela Stokes, Dixon; her step children, Larry, Billy, Janie, Rosie, Patsy and Trish; her special friend, John Doyle and his family of Dixon; two brothers, Hugh Vann, Dennison, Texas and James Vann, Wardell; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her friends, John and Betty Thilges and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Marge at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor Arthur Gormley, Jr., Pisgah Baptist Church, Dixon officiating.

Interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Marge were Jim Fields, Steven Covert, Randy Canady, Joshua Billings, Douglas Crownover and Scott Fields. Honorary pallbearer was Steven Ross Powell.

Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
