Obituary

Marilouise (Marilou) Carol Lang, age 99, of Jefferson City, died March 9, 2025, at Stonebridge Adams Street Place, Jefferson City. She was born November 17, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska to Edwin Earl and Opal Joyce Hall. She joined a brother and sister when she was adopted at the age of five by her aunt and uncle Alma Lucille (Wortman) and Harry Thomas Massie. She later was joined by two more brothers.

Marilou attended a one room rural school for eight grades and two years of rural high school. She graduated from Callaway, Nebraska High School and later taught in one-room schools in Nebraska for three years.

On June 2, 1946, Marilou married Duane Gillman Lang in Broken Bow, Nebraska. To this union, three children were born: Oma Lucille, Cynthia Joyce and Mark Gillman.

Marilou was a member of the Russellville Methodist Church and the Order of the Easter Star, Victoria Chapter 14, Jefferson City, Missouri.

In her younger years she taught Sunday school and Bible school classes, sang in the church choir, was active in the United Methodist Women's group, taught 4H classes and was an assistant Cub Scout leader. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, her husband of 66 years, her oldest daughter, Oma, her younger daughter Cynthia, and a grandson, Neil Meyerring of Minnesota.

She is survived by her son, Mark Lang of Vienna; three grandchildren, Tim Sims (Brenda) of Freeburg; Kevin Lang (Jenni) of Jefferson City and Ashlie Otto (Norm) of St. Thomas; five great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson; two step great-great-grandsons and several nephews and nieces.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
