Mark Norton, age 72, of Crocker, was born on December 18, 1949, at Marion, Ohio, a son of Robert Swihart and Dorothy Jayne (Greer) Norton and departed this life at 4:05 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
Mark was united in marriage of September 17, 1983, at Waynesville to Miss Cheryl Jean Mackney. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
On June 30, 1969, Mark entered into federal service of the United States Navy in Waynesville and served in the Viet Nam War until his discharge on August 16, 1971.
He had worked as an over the road truck driver and later as a driver and dispatcher for Ozark Ready Mix. Growing up, Mark attended the Faith Lutheran Church, St. Robert with his family. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Crocker. He enjoyed classic cars, working in his garden and his yard, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mark include: his wife, Cheryl Norton, Crocker; his daughter, Dana Dawn Carter and husband, Jeffrey McPeek, Granite City, Illinois; his four grandchildren, Megan, Dalton, Danielle and Audrey; his one great-granddaughter, Blakey Sue; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Jack Keeth and Jennifer and Danny Jones all of Crocker; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held for Mark at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, December 9, 2022 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville, with Pastor Phil Duncan, Crocker Assembly of God officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the office of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
