Obituary

Mary Margaret Carlton, of Dixon, was born on January 13, 1929, at Salisbury, a daughter of Jesse M. and Margaret L. (Eisberg) Hayes and departed this life at 3:50 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2015 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Mrs. Carlton had attained the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 23 days.

Mrs. Carlton was united in marriage on October 2, 1966, at Lebanon to Ernie Carlton. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse and her mother, Margaret.

Mrs. Carlton was baptized early in life while living in Alabama and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon. She loved taking care of her family and home, bowling and watching NASCAR and PBR.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Carlton include: her husband, Ernie Carlton of the home in Dixon; her children and their spouses, Nancy and Jim Sterling, Columbia; Scott and Trish McCray, Dixon, Rick and Alice Carlton, Dixon; Terry and Steve Helton, Plato and Tammy and Danny Milligan, Dixon; one sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Wayne Miller, St. Louis; grandchildren, Carl (Kate), Kenny (Beth), Matt (Julie), Laura (Josh), Stephanie (Jim), Elizabeth, Bronson (Kim), Brody (Leslie), Jarad (Joni), Niki (Jared) and Cole (Terri); great-grandchildren, Max, Malachi, Mathias, Owen, Blake, Perry, Ella, Charlotte, Cy, Barett, Elliet, Jara and Dalton; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mary at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2015, in the First Baptist Church, Dixon with Pastor Dan Biggs, New Beginnings Revival Center, Waynesville officiating and Pastor Bobby Williford, First Baptist Church, Dixon, reading the obituary.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Carlton were Carl Michael Edwards, Kenneth Lee Edwards, Matthew Scott McCray, Bronson Stephen Helton, Brody Lee Helton and Jarad Daniel Milligan. Honorary pallbearers were Laura Lee Jacobs, Niki Elaine Kelsay, Thomas Cole Anderson, Josh Jacobs, Kate Edwards, Beth Edwards, Julie McCray, Stephanie Lawrence, Elizabeth Sterling, Jared Kelsay, Kim Bostic, Leslie Helton, Joni Milligan, Terri Berkbigler, Jim Bales, Larry Doba and Justin Shelton.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Dixon Community Scholarship Fund with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
