Obituary

SSG (Ret) Michael Allen Shade, 51, of Dixon, was born on October 8, 1970, at Klamath Falls, Oregon a son of Kenneth Leroy and Barbara Jean (Pulsipher) Shade and departed this life at 5:48 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at his residence.

On October 24, 1990, at Denver, Colorado, Mike entered into active federal service in the United States Army and served until March 31, 2012, when he retired and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  A man of excellent character, SSG Shade's  Honorable Discharge is testimony to his honest and faithful service to his country.

Following his military career, Mike worked for Quaker Window Products in Freeburg for the past three years. He enjoyed bonfires, walks in the woods, fishing or just walking along any peaceful body of water.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mike include: his wife, Cynthia Shade, Dixon; his sons, Terry Shade and Benton Jones, both of Dixon; his father, Ken Shade, state of Colorado; his mother, Barbara Shade, Dixon; two grandchildren, Aiden and Marley; several brothers and sisters and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Andrea J. (Shade) Nussbaum.

Private services with full military honors were held for Mike in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
