Michael Edward Singleton was born on April 22, 1951, at Waynesville, the son of the late Virgil and Betty (Griffin) Singleton. He departed this life on Monday, January 2, 2023 at his home.
Mike was united in marriage to Linda Stoker on December 3, 1971 and to this union, two children, Shannon Lynn and Aaron Michael, were born. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Stacey Rodden.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of Crocker High School and went to college at Missouri Southern State University for 2 years. After college he went to work for Civil Service then an optometrist in Waynesville and later in Oklahoma. He returned to Crocker to work again for Civil Service at Ft. Leonard Wood before retiring in 2008.
Mike always wanted to work with horses and after retirement he and his friends, Donnie and Eddie Bowling, formed BSB Foxtrotters. They bought, sold, raised and trained Foxtrotters. Mike also ran a leather shop which he made and repaired a variety of leather goods.
He had accepted Christ and was baptized in 2013 and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Crocker in November 2016.
Mike was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a past President of the Crocker Saddle Club, a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and served on the Board of the Crocker Senior Center.
He enjoyed going on trail rides with his team of mules, farming and in his younger days playing the guitar in a band with friends. Mike always valued a good sense of humor and spent fun-filled hours enjoying family and friends.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mike include: his companion, Pam Smith; his children, Shannon (Jason) Teague and Aaron (Heather) Singleton; his sister, Jeanie Schall; five grandchildren, Jimmy, Gabby, Payne, Aiden and Malykai; two great-grandchildren, Laiklyn and Layla; his great niece, Megan Rodden; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon until service time at 2 p.m., on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in the First Baptist Church, Crocker with Pastor Robin Salsman and Pastor Trey Dolloff officiating.
Interment will be in the Antioch Cemetery near Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Crocker Senior Center or the First Baptist Church, Crocker.
