Obituary

Nancy Lou Layman, 85, of Dixon was born on March 8, 1936, at Crocker, a daughter of Alva Herman and Ruby Lucille (Hedrick) Wilkes and departed this life at 6:25 p.m., Thursday evening, July 15, 2021, in the SSM Health St Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City.

Nancy was united in marriage on September 4, 1958, in California to Mr. William Everett "Bill" Layman and to this union, one son was born. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 19, 1993; her father, Alva on July 8, 1962; her mother, Ruby on July 22, 1962; one brother, Billy Drue "Dude" Wilkes on April 12, 2010 and one sister, Betty Sue Williams on May 13, 1990.

Nancy was baptized early in life and was a member of the Crocker Christian Church. While living in California, Nancy had worked as a bank teller for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. Nancy and Bill then returned to their home state of Missouri. Following the death of her husband, Nancy went to work at the Oak Hills Country Club for over 25 years and was still working at the time of her passing. She was a member of the VFW Post 4956 Ladies Auxiliary, Crocker. Nancy enjoyed mowing her lawn, gardening and cooking for her family and friends.

Those left to mourn the passing of Nancy include: her son and daughter -in-law, William Craig and Janeece Layman, Cypress, California; her two grandchildren, Christian Jacob Layman, Rolla and Caitlynn Leah Layman, Aliso Viejo, California; her sister, Donna Kay Thomas, Dixon; her sister-in-law, Patsy Wilkes, Crocker; several nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held for Nancy from 5 -7 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021 and from 10 – 11 a.m. with her funeral service at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 23, 2021 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Larry Richardson, Crocker Christian Church officiating.

Interment will be in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Nancy will be Dan Wilkes, Randy Williams, Chase Kloeppel, Cody Kloeppel, Caleb Kloeppel and Colton Bowman. Honorary pallbearers are Christian Layman and Cooper Lawson.

Memorials are suggested to the Perpetual Care Fund for the Crocker Cemetery or the Leukemia Research Foundation in Memory of Nancy Lou Layman.
