Obituary

Nida Ilene VanBuren, of Crocker was born on March 25, 1936 at St. Louis a daughter of Harry E. and Josephine Irene (Blakely) Pierce and departed this life at 10:35 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 in the Mercy Hospital, Springfield. Mrs. VanBuren had attained the age of 82 years, 9 months and 10 days.

Mrs. VanBuren was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence H. Richey, Jr.; her second husband, Fred Carl VanBuren; one brother, Bill Pierce and one sister, Juanita Pierce.

Mrs. VanBuren was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Crocker and the American Legion, St. Robert. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and tending to her flowers as well as being a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. VanBuren include: her sons, Lawrence "Larry"  Richey and his wife, Susan, of Richland and Clyde Andrew Richey of the state of Texas; one daughter, Cathleen Ann Richey and her husband, Allen of the Des Moines, Iowa; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial gathering will be held for Mrs. VanBuren at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at her son's residence at 514 Louise Street, Richland, with Matthew Romine in charge.

A private interment will be held at a later date, in the Bethany Cemetery, Crocker, beside her husband, Fred.
