Nila Urbana Brandt, of Dixon, was born on February 25, 1920, at Frankswitch, a daughter of Bert E. and Dora Ann (Prewett) Atwell, and departed this life at 8:30 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013, in the University Hospitals and Clinics, Columbia. Mrs. Brandt had attained the age of 93 years and 9 months.
Mrs. Brandt was united in marriage to Fred James Brandt and to this union seven children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 4, 1974; two infant daughters, Alice Jean Brandt and Barbara June Brandt; her parents; one brother, Floyd Atwell; one sister, Eula Richmond; and three grandchildren, Randy Smith, Dawnita Brandt and David Lee Shackelford.
Mrs. Brandt was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Dixon. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing word search puzzles, polkas and was a loving and devoted homemaker.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Brandt included: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Terry and Camillia Brandt, Walnut Shade; James and Nancy Brandt, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Dana Brandt, Rolla; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Don Smith and Valda and David Shackelford, Rolla; one brother, Bob Atwell, California, Missouri; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Brandt at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Bro. Jimmy Moore officiating.
Interment was in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Brandt were Jeff Brandt, Daryl Brandt, Jacob Brandt, Carey Smith, Adam Shackelford and Ronnie McQueon. Honorary pallbearer was Dale Saunchegrow.
