Obituary

Peggy Long, of Dixon, was born on May 31, 1935, the daughter of Luster Clarence and Goldie Mae (Robertson) Giesler, and departed this life at 4:54 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013, in the Mercy Hospital, Springfield. Mrs. Long had attained the age of 78 years and 21 days.

Mrs. Long was united in marriage on December 25, 1953, at Dixon, to Vernon L. Long, and to this union, three children were born. She was preceded in death by her father on June 10, 1951; her mother on August 8, 2001; and two brothers, Jesse Clarence (JC) Giesler on May 22, 2000 and Doyle Millard Giesler on January 29, 2011.

Mrs. Long had worked for Brown Shoe Company, Dixon for 19 years and later was the secretary for the Long Funeral Home for 17 years, as well as being a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker.

Mrs. Long accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and followed her Lord in baptism early in life. She was a faithful member of the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon, where she loved to lead the singing. Mrs. Long was an avid bowler and loved watching her children and grandchildren's sports activities. She enjoyed shopping and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Long include: her husband of nearly 60 years, Vernon Long, Dixon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Teresa Long, Dixon and Mike and Anthanett Long, Springfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Easterling, Camdenton; nine grandchildren, Gary and wife, Maria; Josh, Jenna, Jace, Brock and wife, Tessa; Rocco and wife, Angela; Rody and husband, Nick; Jeramie and wife, Shannon and Judd and wife, Jessica; seven great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Avalyn, Acelin, Roslyn, Alex, Brooke and Willow; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Long at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor David Vanzant, Sheppard Baptist Church, and Bro. Tom Maples, Ava, Missouri, officiating. Tracy Ray and Kim Roach sang "Sweet Peace", "In The Garden", "Haven of Rest", and "Amazing Grace" for the service.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Long were her grandchildren, Josh Long, Gary Long, Jeramie Easterling, Judd Easterling, Jenna Long, Jace Long, Brock Long, Rocco Long and Rody Clark.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon, with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home, Dixon.
