Peggy Jane Smith, of Crocker, was born on October 20, 1934, at Anniston, Missouri, a daughter of Delbert and Irene (Glass) Hatton, and departed this life at 2:05 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2012, in the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach. Mrs. Smith had attained the age of 78 years and 1 month.
Mrs. Smith was united in marriage in May 1956 to William Wheatley, who preceded her in death in February 1962. She was later united in marriage in June 1970 to Stanley Smith, who preceded her in death in October 2006. In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Beverly Wheatley; her father on January 11, 1986; her mother on December 9, 1969; two brothers, Frank "Buck" Hatton and Bill Hatton; three sisters, Mildred "Mill" Husk; Virginia "Jenny" Haley and Henrietta "Skeeter" Carr; one son-in-law, Randy Harrison; three nephews and one niece.
Mrs. Smith was baptized as a young girl and was re-baptized on May 16, 1982. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Crocker and enjoyed reading and studying her Bible, cooking and babysitting.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Smith include: two sons, Steve (Lisa) Wheatley and Bill Smith, all of Richland; four daughters, Sandy Harrison-Parsons, Eugene; Carroll (Ronnie) Ellis-Howerton, Lake of the Ozarks; Susan (Dickie) Alexander and Tina (Carlos) Smith-Bailey, all of Richland; two sons-in-law, Paul Ellis and Kenny Parsons; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Trina Hatton, Paducah, Kentucky and Marvin and Ann Hatton, Bertrand; twelve grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Jason (Anita) Harrison, Kevin (Alisha) Harrison, Erika Parsons, Alisha (Nick) Fitzsimmons, James (Meranda) Ellis, Jerry (Sondra) Ellis, Angela (Christophe) Torres, Ashley Howerton, Jeff (Joni) Adamson, Elizabeth Adamson, Keith (Rachel) Alexander, Curtis (Cristin) Wheatley, Sasha Wheatley and Catie Bailey; eighteen great-grandchildren, Jaelyn and Blake Harrison, Ty, Holden and Addilyn Harrison, Amiyah Fitzsimmons, Mathieu, Sydney, Amira and Sophie Ellis, Ethan, Parker and Rylee Ellis, Annika and Zoe Torres, Christopher Isaac, Chloe Adamson, Molly Alexander and one due in April 2013; and other relatives and friends.
Vistitation from 10 - 11 a.m., with the Funeral service at 11 a.m, all on Saturday, November 24, 2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker
