Obituary

Philip Gene Morgan, 91, of Festus, was born on April 5, 1932, at Bartlesville, Oklahoma, a son of Gilbert Lee and Mettie Mae (Nelson) Morgan and departed this life at 8:20 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2023 in the Mercy Jefferson Hospital, Festus.

Mr. Morgan was united in marriage on August 6, 1955, at Nowata, Oklahoma to Miss Billy June Rollins. He was preceded in death by his wife on December 7, 2007; his parents, Gilbert and Mettie and his siblings, Arthur, Lester, Genevieve, Dorothy and Mary.

Mr. Morgan was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean conflict. He also owned J-Bar in Bartlesville, OK and Parksiders in Arnold, MO after his time in the Army. He finished his career as Head Custodian at Mehlville School District, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the VFW Post 3777 and the American Legion Post 253, both of Festus. Mr. Morgan enjoyed many outdoor activities with his family including boating, camping, hunting, and fishing.

Survivors include Christie Crouch, Vince (Karen) Vuylsteke, Jason (Jessica) Vuylsteke, and Brandy (Josh) Chisholm. Great-grandchildren include Morgan, Karlee, Blake, Harper, Christopher (Lexi), and Caleb (Alesha) and five great-great-grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, May 26, 2023, in the Wheeler Cemetery on Maries County Road 601 in Dixon, MO with Bro. Kevin Rowden officiating.
