Richard Guy Holtsclaw, age 80, of Dixon, was born in Dixon on January 20, 1942, a son of Marshall Guy and Flossie Bell (Smith) Holtsclaw and departed this life on Wednesday evening, May 4, 2022 in the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
Richard was united in marriage on January 6, 1965 in Pulaski County, to Miss Glenda Ann Thompson and to this union, one son was born. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 24, 2021; his father, Guy on December 19, 1975; his mother, Flossie on July 12, 1972 and two sisters, Ruby Sankins on May 28, 2020 and Guilda Holtsclaw on April 5, 2013.
Richard had recently accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. During his working life he had been employed in the transportation department of the Dixon R-1 school system starting in July of 1975 and was the transportation director when he retired in June of 2007. Richard was later a substitute bus driver for the school system from August of 2012 until his retirement in June of 2017. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with cars and trucks, his dog, Shadow, but mostly going out to eat with his late wife, Glenda.
Those left to mourn the passing of Richard include: his son, Rodney Holtsclaw, Dixon; his brother, Earl Holtsclaw, Dixon; four grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Timothy Holtsclaw, Matthew Holtsclaw, and Kaitlin Holtsclaw and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Richard will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m., all on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Jack Caple officiating.
Interment will be in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Richard were Tim Holtsclaw, Matt Holtsclaw, Jeremy Johnson, Joe Holtsclaw, Will Holtsclaw and Brandon McNeil. Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Holtsclaw and Kaitlin Holtsclaw.
Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home, Dixon.
