Robert "Bob" Paul Cross, of Dixon, was born on December 30, 1927, at Crocker, a son of William Sherman, Sr. and Jewell Lorraine (Null) Cross, and departed this life at 1:45 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2015, in the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach. Bob had attained the age of 87 years and 3 days.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Sherman, in 1963; his mother, Jewell, in 1978; one son, Ivan Cross on January 26, 2005; and six brothers, Larry Cross, Jackie Cross, Pierce Cross, Benny Cross, William "Bill" Cross, Jr., and Frank Cross.


Bob was a member of the Hancock Christian Church, a graduate of Dixon High School and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a machinist, retiring from McDonnell Douglas, St. Louis. Bob enjoyed working on vehicles and being with his grandchildren.

Those left to mourn his passing include: one son, Ronald Lee Cross, Dixon; one daughter, Anita Cross, Dixon; one brother, Raymond Cross, Rolla; two sisters, Sharon Kleffner, Brinktown and Bonnie Ferry, state of California; four grandchildren, Jason, Jossie, Kyle and Kayleea; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Bob at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Bro. Gary Day, Hancock Christian Church, officiating.

Interment was in the Seaton Cemetery, Dixon, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Bob were Steven Long, Delbert Long, Cliffty Yoakum, Paul Kleffner, Larry Kleffner and Wes Hightower. Honorary pallbearers were Cale Long and Kyle Cross.
