Robert Wayne McDowell, age 82, of Ulman, was born October 14, 1941, at Brumley, a son of John and Ruby Ruth (Rowden) McDowell and passed from this life Friday evening, November 17, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. McDowell was united in marriage April 14, 1961, at Crocker, to Miss Lois Ruth Noe, and to this union, five children were born. He was preceded in death by two daughters, an infant, Julie McDowell, at age three months and Susan McDowell; his parents, John and Ruby McDowell; three brothers, Virgil, Archie, and Donald McDowell; and three sisters, Opal Long, Eula Mae Long and Dorothy Lathrop.

Mr. McDowell was baptized as a teenager and had been a member of the Curry Community Church, Iberia and had worked as a small engine mechanic for most of his working life. Mr. McDowell enjoyed working on small engines, coon hunting and his coon dogs, playing his guitar and being in the outdoors.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. McDowell include: His wife of just over 62 years, Lois McDowell, of the home; three sons, Steven McDowell and his companion, Karen, of  Camp Pointe, Illinois; Charlie McDowell and his wife, Brenda, of Ulman, and Richard McDowell and his wife, Lisa, of Brumley; one brother, J.D. McDowell and his wife, Lavonne, of  Rock Port, Texas; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held for Mr. McDowell from 12 noon until his service time at 1 p.m., all on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker with the Rev. Dewayne Larenson officiating.

Interment will be in the Hawkeye Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
