Obituary

Robert (Bob) George Nothum Sr. passed away from a brief illness on August 27, 2026. He is predeceased by his wife Audrey, and son Bob Jr. Bob was born on August 12, 1931, in St. Louis, Missouri to Mathias and Barbara Ludwig Nothum. He had six brothers and one sister. He loved his siblings throughout his life. He grew up in St. Louis and went to Normandy High School. During his high school years, he worked as a grocery clerk at Butz’s Supermarket. This is where he met Audrey Tibbs as she would frequently come through his checkout line. On May 12, 1951, she would become his wife of 67 years. They later were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bob and Audrey had six children, one son and five daughters. In 1971 Bob founded a very successful manufacturing company, Nothum Food Processing Systems in Springfield, Missouri. Bob loved God, his wife and his family. His faith guided him throughout his life, and he spoke often about his beliefs to family and friends. He also had a lifelong passion for airplanes and became a pilot in his early 20’s. Bob also loved the outdoors. He was blessed with many talents and skills, among those: art, drafting, carpentry, singing and penmanship. His grandchildren will always remember the one word he said loudly to get everyone to be quiet at family dinners when it was time to say the prayer: “SILENCE.”

“Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the gift of our dad and for the 95 years he was here with us.” Love, Your Daughters.

A private family Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Seaton Cemetery, Dixon, Missouri.
